How to care for your jewellery
At Shopella our jewellery is crafted with various embellishments including semi-precious stones, fresh water pearls, beads, crystals & metals. You may notice variations in colour, size and pattern as this is due to their natural elements.
Please handle your jewellery with care. Shopella cannot take responsibility for any breakages that occur through mishandling. Please avoid contact with personal items such as sanitisers, lotions, perfumes
& oils as some metals & stones can react to these items, which may result in discolouration or tarnishing.
Please avoid showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping with this product. Clean regularly with a clean cloth & store away in a dark & dry place.
We want you to be able to keep your Shopella Jewellery pieces for as long as possible! Here are a few quick recommendations for care:

Alloy silver contains a 7.25% of copper. Copper tarnishes and oxidizes which in occasion is nice, but some people do not like it. To solve this issue, we have included a polishing cloth, a good polishing does the trick too. Those are especially good to highlight parts when the piece has an oxidized finish. It CAN turn your skin green, or turn the piece green, or tarnish it. It all depends on skin chemistry and where you live. The more humid weather the more the piece will need maintenance. It does not mean the piece is bad quality. it is the nature of the metal alloy.
To protect your skin if it gets black or green, you can always put a thin layer of lacquer or clear nail polish. It will wear off with use but then you repeat the process.
TARNISHING -Tarnish occurs for many reasons and is subject to the environment of the wearer. Tarnish is not a manufacturing fault as it can be caused by many different things such as perfumes, moisturisers, tanning lotions and cleaning chemicals. Even ones' skin acidity can cause metals to tarnish. Tarnish can also be a result of oxidation from the way items are stored. Oxidation is a natural process that occurs from the combination of oxygen with a substance forming oxide. This can be caused by either lack of oxygen or too much oxygen exposure. We do not recommend storing your pieces in their original box as they are only designed to protect items for safe transportation. We recommend storing your pieces in a purpose-made jewellery box. We find that a simple polish with a clean microfibre or jewellery polishing cloth will remove tarnish.
